“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.”
Ralph SegerDo you enjoy getting up and going to work? Does your team have an inspiring vision? Are you a part of a winning team? Is your effort appreciated and recognized? Can you have candid and honest conversations with your boss and teammates? Do you have an opportunity to learn something new everyday? Do you have an opportunity to advance in your career?
I have been a part of different sport, political and business teams – great, good and ugly and came to a conclusion – once all is being said and done, what matters the most are winning team spirits you have experienced and relationships you have built. The culture that has an inspiring vision,
clearly defined roles and responsibilities, strong attitudes and behaviors, candid feedback and opportunity for each individual to excel in his or her career creates a winning team!
Over time, I have developed my own leadership principles, values and behaviors. They are rooted in the authentic and purpose driven leadership philosophy. If you are interested, you can have a sneak preview of those principles here
MARS CHOCOLATES - Who are you as as team and how can you perform better?
Team Challenge
- The team’s spirit was low due to recent lay-offs and struggled to define an inspiring team vision
- The organization perceived team members as functional experts rather than strategic thinkers and influencers
- The team lacked skills to communicate its work clearly to the rest of the organization
My actions
I worked with team members to:
- Define key issues and priorities in team building process
- Understand each team member skills, strenghts and motivational obstacles to high performance
- Created and implemented influencing, storytelling and communication training
- Aligned with other team leaders and motivated them to support the initiative
